Goals
Seniors Housing Society of Alberta (SHSA) is a not for profit organization representing Alberta Based Senior Housing Operators:
- Provide help to members in delivering supportive housing to their senior residents;
- Provide a forum to build relationships between members;
- Explore innovative approaches to housing and care
- Presnt a collective voice on critical matters to influence government policy.
Advocacy
SHSA plays a vital role in
advocating on behalf of its
members in areas such as:
- Active involvement in the Continuing Care Collaborative Committee, and the Continuing Care Strategy Implementation Task Force;
- Liaison with government on behalf of operators;
- Issues presenting challenges such as property tax, Home Care funding; Accommodation and Continuing Care Standards and changes to the Building and Fire Codes;
- Funding for adequate and standardized training for Health Care Aides;
- Strategies for workforce retention; and
- Supportive Living Design Guidelines
Meetings
The members meet five times
a year. These meetings are
informal in nature and feature:
- An invited guest speaker who presents on current and emerging issues facing supportive living operators
- Round table member updates
- Networking
